McKinney Edges Wyrick at Nicklaus Club

Tom McKinneyMBGFR President Tom McKinney (86-70) won a card-off over defending Trotter Cup Champion Bob Wyrick (83-70) to take home low net honors at our August 5 tournament at the Nicklaus Club - Monterey. Fourteen MBGFR members played in the event at the former Pasadera Country Club.

Although McKinney edged Wyrick for low net, Wyrick's 83 was good enough to collect low gross money.

Third low net went to Babe Titus (93-73) and Sid Williams (94-74) was fourth low net.

Closest to the flagstick money went to Jerry Schock on #3 and Tom McKinney on #16.

Paden cleans up at Tahoe

Gary PadenVisalia's Gary Paden fired two 86s to run away from the field at our July 15 and 16 two day event in Truckee.

On Saturday at Old Greenwood Golf Club, Paden (86-70) was the only one in the 16 player field to break 90 and claimed both low net and low gross honors. Second low net went to Kevin Saunders (90-74), a guest of Jim Pescatore and Louie Cosentino and third low net went to Cathy Herbst (101-77). Paden also took home one of the two closest to the flagstick awards and MBGFR President Tom McKinney claimed the second one.

On Sunday at Gray's Crossing, Paden (86-70) again took the low net money and Larry Rambaud (84) won low gross. Anne Johnson (96-70) won a card off over Deb Knowles (85-70) for second low net. Sunday's closest to the flagstick winners were Pam Rambaud and Geary Engles.

Both the low gross and low net two day overall money went to Gary Paden (172-140). Second low net was Larry Rambaud (152) and Gary Herbst (153) took home third low net.

Competitors enjoyed great weather with temperatures in the low 80s both days. A group dinner was held at Truckee's Bar of America on Saturday evening.
